The Community Learning Center project aims to enhance the existing Peace Dale Library facility, providing robust public internet access, digital navigation assistance, programmatic education support, workforce preparedness assistance, and educational health programming and services. CLC programming will be offered by the library through consistently scheduled sessions and on-demand appointments that cover various topics, including resume creation, job search assistance, career planning and health education.
The CLC project is focused on serving the needs of the community and as such we are reaching out to our community stakeholders to hear how this new resource can best help you and those you serve. We would be pleased to work with you to offer programming in partnership to support our community’s goals.
The Peace Dale Library has hosted 3 community input sessions, focus groups, tabled at community events, presented at a Board of Trustees meeting, and conducted a survey. We are very thankful to everyone who has already shared your thoughts and ideas on how we can make this area a useful and well-thought-out resource for our community.

| What happened to the nonfiction section? | Our nonfiction collection recently went through a deep weeding process to remove materials in poor condition or with very low circulation. At the same time, we are preparing for renovations to create the Community Learning Center, which requires reclaiming some floor space. Finally, reading and research habits have shifted—many people now turn to digital resources such as eBooks, Google, and YouTube for learning, especially in nonfiction. As a result, our collection is smaller, but better reflects both current use and future needs. Update Sept. 29th 2025 - The Nonfiction Collection has now been packed up and moved into storage for the duration of the renovation project. A small selection of new nonfiction titles are still available. |
| Where are the newspapers? | For the duration of the renovation project, the newspapers have been moved to the circular table between the Reference and Circulation desks. We will continue to keep a week's worth of issues out for reading. |
| Will we be losing seating and table space? | During the renovation there will be fewer tables and seating areas available, but the Library will make our best efforts to accommodate all who wish to use the space during this time. Once the project is complete, the Community Learning Center will feature even more tables, additional seating, and new reservable private spaces for study, work, and collaboration. |
