New Parking Payment Option Available for Moonstone Beach Road


South Kingstown Parks & Recreation is pleased to offer an additional way to pay for day parking at the designated parking area on Moonstone Beach Road during the summer season through Labor Day.  

Visitors who do not have a Town Beach season pass windshield sticker or a seasonal transferrable pass can now use the ParkMobile App to pay for parking. Simply scan the QR code on one of the posted ParkMobile signs and follow the on-screen instructions to complete your transaction.

For those who are unable to use the app, a day parking pass may be purchased in person at the South Kingstown Town Beach entrance gate at 719 Matunuck Beach Road.

We hope this added convenience enhances your visit to our beautiful shoreline!

Purchase of a seasonal sticker or transferable pass does not guarantee a parking space on any given beach day.

In 2025, the State of Rhode Island enacted legislation imposing a 7% tax on short-term parking fees; this tax is built into the total fee for all beach pass sales.


General Rules and Information 

  • The South Kingstown Town Beach is open to the public from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day.
  • Designated Parking on Moonstone Beach Road between May 1 – September 15 requires a seasonal beach pass sticker or day pass which can be purchased at the Town Beach gate while the beach is in operation.   This parking is monitored by South Kingstown Police.
  • The Parking lot opens daily at 8:00 am, parking is first come first serve.
  • Gate Hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm weekdays; and 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on weekends and holidays.
  • Restrooms are normally open from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.   
  • All cars must be vacated from the parking area no later than 9:00 p.m. as the gate is closed and locked at that time.
  • Lifeguards shall be on duty 9:00 am to 5:00 pm weekdays and 9:00 am to 6:00pm weekends and holidays.
  • Alcohol consumption on the property is prohibited.   
  • Smoking on the property is prohibited.
  • Dogs are prohibited from Opening Day through Labor Day – excluding service dogs as defined by ADA . Compliance with the Town’s leash law is required at all times during the off season when dogs are allowed on the beach.   
  • All ball playing, frisbee throwing and kite flying must be done in the picnic area.
